How can you protect & maintain your Hair Extensions at home?
All hair extensions can be shampooed at home, use a stylist recommended shampoo.
Wash technique – use a gentle downward motion
For curly/textured extensions less is more: shampoo once a week
Avoid heavy conditioners, oils, or products heavy in oils on or near the roots/bonds as it can cause slipping.
Avoid chemical sunscreens and Tanning lotions as they can cause discoloration in blonde extensions and slipping, use a mineral based sunscreen instead & wear your hair up in a bun with a hair net until tan is dry, avoid wetting your loose hair extensions on the same day you tan.
Avoid alcohol-based products and hot-tools near Keratin-tips bond
Special care for I-tips, K-tips and Tape ins – NO conditioner at roots, as it can cause premature slipping.
Loop brushes – specifically designed brushes which allow detangling from the root to ends without pulling at the base of the extension
Paddle brushes are great for sew-in wefts and tape-ins
It’s very important to never sleep on wet extensions!
Air dry hair at least 80% before blow drying, hot tools should not exceed 350 degrees.
**NEVER GO TO BED WITH WET/DAMP HAIR**
-Night time – Apply a small amount of hair oil on your hands and rub thru Mid section + End's & loosely braid or twist hair in a protective style and use a satin pillowcase/bonnet.
* Feel Free to ask your stylist for your take home products & a print out of your home care instructions.
